Our recent Economic Impact Study found that MCC's value goes far, far beyond giving students the experience and knowledge they need to launch their careers.

In fact, for every $1 invested in MCC…

STUDENTS gain $5.20 in lifetime earnings.

MCC Students see a serious return on investment for their MCC degree. Over the course of their working lives, MCC graduates will receive $320 million in increased earnings, translating into a return-on-investment of $5.20 in higher future earnings for every dollar students put into their education. 

TAXPAYERS gain $2.90 in added tax revenue + public sector savings.

MCC is a moneymaker for taxpayers. From 2017—2018, taxpayers invested $48.7 million in MCC. In return, higher student earnings from their degrees and increased business output will generate $133.4 million in tax revenue for Genesee County. That means for every $1 invested in MCC, taxpayers see a $2.90 return-on-investment.

SOCIETY gains $12.30 in added income + social savings.

MCC supports Michigan’s economy and puts food on peoples’ tables. Michigan invested $138 million from 2017-2018 in MCC. In turn, students will return over $1.7 billion to the state over the course of their working lives in increased wages — amounting to a total return-on-investment of $12.30 to the state of Michigan for each $1 invested in MCC.

Additionally, MCC supported 6,806 jobs in Genesee County and added $439.7 million in income to the local economy from 2017—2018.

MCC’s 893 employees also support the local economy by putting much of their earnings back into Flint, Genesee County, and the mid-Michigan region by buying groceries, making mortgage payments, dining out, and frequenting other small businesses for other household essentials.
